2017: Tasks Before Himachal

This is regarding Himachal This Week ‘s cover story of December 31, 2016, “2017: Tasks before Himachal”. Numerous projects are envisaged by the state government and Centre for the welfare of masses and development. Some of them are completed whereas others linger on for many years before being translated into reality. There are so many factors for delay in implementation of projects including administrative bottlenecks, no objection certificates and others. In addition, there is also politicking between the state and centre that ultimately results in delay of projects. As a result, people fail to take benefit of developmental projects.

Missing Disaster Management

It is a matter of concern if life has not returned to normal even after a  week following heavy snowfall in Himachal. What went wrong in the process? The management was apparently missing during this period. Problems in snow hit areas couldn’t have prolonged so much had the disaster management board shown seriousness in its preparedness. Tourists visiting different destinations too returned with a bitter experience. It is a big question mark on the working of entire system if it takes this much time to restore normalcy after one day snowfall.
