Decline of Anurag Thakur In Cricket

This is regarding Himachal This Week ‘s cover story of January 7, 2017, “Decline of Anurag Thakur in Cricket”. Removal of Anurag Thakur from BCCI president’s post is a setback to him as it will have impact on his future progress also. It will affect progress of cricket in Himachal as he had many schemes in the pipeline for development of infrastructure to boost the game. And hospitality sector that have developed due to holding of international cricket matches at Dharamshala will also suffer a dent. Anurag Thakur had been heading Himachal Pradesh cricket Association for more than fifteen years now. And implementation of Lodha Committee recommendation is likely to have its impact on HPCA also.

Tanganu Tragedy

Fire incident at Tanganu in Shimla district gutted more than 50 houses. Notably, certain reasons for the mishap were the same as witnessed in the past but we have not learnt any lessons. Many houses could have been saved if there was facility for fire tenders to reach the affected village. Disaster Management Board will have to review its role as the state is facing different disasters. Disaster management is undertaken to reduce the losses after such mishaps. Disaster Management has also failed following heavy snowfall recently.
