htwThe Nalagarh Truck Operator union has increased goods fare in the beginning of new year due to hike in diesel prices. It has increased goods fare by 35 paise per kilometre with new rates implemented immediately. Notably truck union had increased the goods fare by 70 paise per kilometre last month too. The repeated hike in diesel prices and goods fare has increased the worries of industrialists and other businessmen that are already facing the economic slump in the market. Notably, petroleum companies have increased the diesel prices by 97 paise per litre on January 1. Immediately after that country’s one of the biggest truck union at Nalagarh too increased the goods fare by 35 paise per kilometre. The increase in goods fare will definitely result in increase in production rates in local industries, the burden of which will finally fall on customers. There are more than 10,000 trucks in Truck Operator Union, Nalagarh, which are the only medium to transport products manufactured in the industrial area Baddi-Barotiwala-Nalgarh and to transport raw material from outside areas to Himachal. The hike in goods fare will have its direct financial impact in the budget of common people too. Products of daily use from vegetables and fruits to other edible items inside kitchen are bound to get pricey because of increase in goods fare. Transporters said that the operating cost is increasing due to increase in prices of diesel. To compensate this loss, goods fare had to be hiked as per rules, they added. President of Nalagarh Truck Operators Union Vidya Rattan said that goods fare has been increased by 35 paise per kilometre owing to recent hike in diesel prices.
