Excise Department Gets Increased Tax Collection Targets

htwThe state government is all set to give revised and increased target to Excise and Taxation department for the financial year 2017-18. According to sources, the department will get more than Rs. 6700 crore of target for the next financial year. However, it will not be much difficult for excise and taxation department to achieve this target, because GST will be implemented after July in the country and then the union government will compensate for the loss of the revenue of the state government. Besides this, there is a hope of additional help to special category states. Therefore, it will not be much difficult for excise and taxation department to collect more than Rs. 6700 crore of revenue. The department this year until now have already collected Rs. 5400 crore of revenue. However, the department was given a target to collect Rs. 6400 crore of revenue, but department is hopeful to achieve the target numbers by March end. The department is yet to collect tax of January, February and March months and besides this others factors to add to the tax collection of the department. It was therefore expected that the target of department will be increased in upcoming financial year so as to strengthen the economy of hill state. The excise department is now fully connected to e-services making tax filings easier for businessmen and department too. It is also helping to keep a check on tax evaders. The state government is expecting to collect more revenue after implementation of GST, but for now, the target for the department is set at Rs. 6700 crores.

Excise Officials Learning Intricacies Of GST

Many officials from the excise department has gone for training related to GST at Raipur. They are being introduced to the intricacies of GST there. These officials will further train other employees of the state after undergoing through training.

TVS Wego Scooter Available In Two New Colours
