htwSurviving 35 snake bites is no less than a miracle for an ordinary human being. For the last six years, Manisha is facing frequent snake bites. Recently, she faced 35th snake bite. However earlier she used to get cured at a nearby place after every snake bite. Her relatives told that Manisha’s health was improving and she was out of danger now. The strange fact about this story is that every time a snake bites Manisha, it was visible only to her and all others could only see its mark. It has become a matter of discussion in the town as what could be the reason behind this mystery. Himachali Jails To Have CCTV Surveillance

htwHimachali jails will now have 24×7 vigil and surveillance of Closed-circuit television (CCTV) cameras as the Jail Department has planned to equip all jails with this facility. The department has sent a proposal of Rs. 2.5 crore for installation of CCTV cameras in jails of Himachal to the state government. As the country has witnessed many incidents of criminals escaping from prison, such incidences cannot be ruled out even in Himachal Pradesh. Therefore more protection was need of the hour. It therefore becomes necessary to beef up the security in jails by increasing the strength of jail wardens. Besides this surveillance can also be ensured through modern technological toys. This is the reason why the Jail Department of Himachal will install CCTV cameras in all jails. Inspections of all the jails has been carried out and proper spots to install CCTV cameras have been identified. The department has prepared a proposal of Rs. 2.5 crore and sent the same to the state government for approval. The acquisition process of CCTV cameras will begin soon after the state government’s approval. Notably there are 14 jails in Himachal with a capacity of house 2,300 prisoners. Sources said that not only CCTV cameras in these jails are too less in numbers but they are also old ones. As a result, the onus of security of jails lies on the patrolling by jail wardens. To add to the woes, the department has low strength of jail wardens. The department will bring jails under maximum surveillance of CCTV cameras. The jail department will install infrared cameras that can carry surveillance in dark nights too to reduce dependence on jail wardens . All the activities of jail can be monitored through a single control room after installation of modern CCTV cameras.
