Preserve traditional custom, culture: CM

Mandi – Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh who was the Chief Guest in the ‘Dev-Dhawani’ (traditional music associated with Gods and Goddesses) congregation, appreciated the musical concert by Bajantris’ (Musicians), accompanying the local deities in International Shivratri festival. The musical concert formed part of Shivratri fair.

After ensuring their entry in Limca book of Records last year on 10th March, 2016, in which 1806 Bajantris displayed their skills, the gathering of over 2023 Bajantris today, have targeted yet another record to set in their name. Assembled from all over the district, they displayed enthralling presentation with traditional musical instruments reverberating the air with Dev-Dhawani and mesmerizing the audience. Bajantaris from over Bali Valley, Chuhar Valley, Bali Chowki, Seraj, Jhanjehli, Sanor, Badaar and Uttarshala valley participated in the Dev-Dhawani, playing traditional musical instruments as the local name specify viz: Karnaal, Dhol, Nagada,Shehnai, Narsingha, Baamb, Bhana, etc.

Chief Minister said that our deities ensure their presence in almost all the fairs and festivals of the State.  Chief Minister stressed for preservation of our traditional custom and culture and said that as we progress ahead in life, we should carry our language, culture and traditions along-with, no matter where we stay.  Chief Minister also released the coffee table book ‘Mesmerizing Mandi’ which would provide a peep of places of tourist interest of the district.
