SmartHillTown In Himachal

Development of New Shimla has been complete but the objectives of urbanisation have not been fulfilled here. Singapore’s investment to establish a smart hill town in Jathia Devi raises a big hope. Memorandum of Understanding with Singapore reflect acceptance of international standards as urbanisation challenges have been ignored in Himachal. The process for establishing satellite towns has been going on for three decades now but every time the proposed location changed with the change of power in this hilly state. Urban Development Minister Sudhir Sharma’s dreams have reached one smart hill town but other objectives are yet to be achieved. Next phase of the foreign investment in urban development can be in satellite town, aerial transportation network, Entertainment Park, parking, tourism, infrastructure for adventure sports and residential colonies. New town should also include different aspects like process, land use and policies apart from the use of concrete. Citizens too have a responsibility in the backdrop of Singapore’s policy to develop its limited land during past forty five years. Life will be of good quality if better use of technique, strength of underground infrastructure and proper garbage disposal are developed on Singapore’s pattern. Contribution in gross domestic product will increase besides economic success if all resources near Shimla are used judiciously. Smart hill town can be identified as a trade, entertainment and conference centre. First satellite town will come up due to government’s initiatives in urban development. Investment should also be promoted following the results of proposals to construct different rope ways. Jathia Temple scheme will also pave the way for establishing more smart hill towns in Himachal.
