Much to the hope of hardworking unemployed youth, the HP cabinet has okayed the policy of doing away with the interviews to the recruitments of non-gazetted posts. Now the candidates need to take written tests only for Class III and class IV posts. This may be embarrassing to those who manage to grab jobs only by pulling the strings with high ups. But this is no less than a great news for those whose only string is the hard work. The lines of new hope can be seen on their beaming faces now. Of course, after the decision of the center government, they had been waiting for such decision by the state government.

There are no less people, who despite being among the top performers in the written tests, could not make it to the final list thanks to the whims of the interviewers and the corrupted system. This is known to all and sundry that many at the helm of affairs have been accused of rigging the recruitment process. There are many in the state who have passed NET or SLET and many of them have qualified for the interview for college and school cadre more than once, but were not found suitable by the interviewers. Most of them allude this to their inability to have some godfather in the political circle and bureaucratic setup. There is also no dearth of such knaves who could hardly pass the written examination, but made it to the final selection on the dint of their political clout. You can imagine how they would be doing in the departments where they are working.

One doesn’t feel any grudge if one cannot succeed due to his own inability, but it hurts much when one is sure that he has become the victim of injustice and corruption. He loses hope, gets frustrated, Even in the court of law, he cannot prove how well he has performed in the interview in comparison with those who were selected. Filled with disgruntle, he works not for the society but against it. With no interview to go through, a candidate knows where he stands in the ranking of written exams. There remains no scope for marking the candidate’s performance with pencil that can be erased as per convenience and need. The honest members on board and bureaucrats will also have a sigh of relief as they no more need to fall in line with the secretive political interference and influence.

However, some sycophants may still feel piqued. However, doing away with the interview will also increase pressure on written examinations. The habitual cheaters may still adopt unfair practices and may use different hightech methods to cheat in the examination. The possibility of question paper being leaked may rise. A strict vigil will not be required on the candidates only but also on the invigilators on duty. However, installing CCTV cameras at the examination centre will be required. An impenetrable examination system will be the need of the system.
