Humic Acid: An Alternative for Chemical Fertilisers

Humic acid is a principal component of humic substances, which are the major organic constituents of soil (humus), peat and coal. It is also a major organic constituent of many upland streams, dystrophic lakes, and ocean water. It is produced by biodegradation of dead organic matter. The word humic is derived from humus or degradation of organic substances biologically. Today’s in our modern era of chemical fertilizers, Humic acid is going to play a vital role to control excessive usage of hazardous chemical fertilizers in grain and fruit production in India as well as rest of the world.
Humic acid is a best organic fertilizers used for plants and vegetables for producing organic seeds and vegetable production. In India there are high scope of humic acid production from the lands near to sea shores, jungles, and also near to volcanoes as its found in middle earth crust. Humic acid can be roduced artificially by degradation process of molasses, forest wastes, mammal waste as well as from coal mines. As per my perception it’s the best fertilizer to produce natural cereals, eatable material.
Humic Acid Application
Soil application: Combine humic acid solution of concentration of 0.02%-0.05% with farmyard manure as base dressing, 4500-6000 kg/ha. HumiBase is mainly used by soil application.
Top Dressing: At the stage of seedling and heading, apply 3750 kg/ha of humic acid solution with concentration 0.01%-0.1% close to the plant roots. Flush together with water for paddy or spread on water surface. It greatly promotes the growth development of plants. Humic acid is perfectly used by top dressing.
Foliage spray: At stage of late flowering and early filling, apply 750-1200 kg/ha of humic acid 0.01-0.05%, it helps the nutrients transferring from stem and leaves to wheat heads, increase the weight of kernel. Spray period suggest during 2-6 pm. Humic acid contains essential minerals, growth hormones, natural regulating enzymes and amino acids along with micro-nutrients and is the best choice for foliage spray on every types of plants.
Soaking seeds: It increases the germination rate of seeds by soaking with humic acid solution and develops the root system. Soaking seeds with humic acid solution of 0.01-0.05% concentration, and soaking time depends on the thickness of seeds skin. Generally, 5-10 h for vegetables and wheat with thin seeds skin, minimum 24 h for solid seeds like paddy and cotton, etc.
