1st Chip Time Marathon In Shimla

htwOn the occasion of World Red Cross Day, Shimla administration oraganised the 1st Chip Marathon to make the Queen of Hills more popular among tourists. Thousands of enthusiasts took part in this event including locals and outsiders. Apart from run for fun, chip time marathon was organised for professionals also. There were two categories i.e. professional and others. This chip helped monitoring the time an athlete took to complete the race. This marathon was organised under India Run Festival in association with Shimla district administration with the theme ‘Shimla Daud’. Special children also took part in the event. Jaswinder Singh of Haryana emerged winner of the half marathon followed by Jitender Singh from Punjab and Anil Gujjar from Uttar Pradesh for the second and third positions respectively. In the women category, Seema from Hoshiarpur won the winner’s title. Muzaffarnagar’s Arpita Saini and Amandeep Kaur from Haryana bagged second and third positions. In the 10 kms race, Hetram from Lahaul & Spiti bagged the title followed by Rajit Kumar from Punjab and Kartik from Saharanpur from second and third positions. In the women’s category, Amandeep Kaur of Ludhiana emerged winner, whereas, Rubi and Kajal Sharma of Muzaffarnagar secured second and third spot.

htwWith 41 medals in their kitty, karate players of Roots Country School, Kotkhai excelled in the 15th All India Shotokan Karate Championship organised at Indira Gandhi Sports  Stadium, Shimla. Eight gold medals were bagged by Mohan Rawat, Rijwal Chauhan, Mishel Pirta, Ritik Neshta, Abhishek Chauhan, Parthav Chauhan, Vertik Chauhan and Avantika Rajta. Whereas, silver medal winners included Daksh Negi, Alisa, Sparsh Negi, Tarana Jehtha, Sarika, Arpit Sangrel, Vardan Chauhan, Rajeev Chauhan, Vansh Beakta and Uday Chauhan. Aishwarya Rohta, Parana Jehtha,  Shivangi Verma, Rajvi Chauhan, Ivy Mohan, Sonu Jogta, Mohan Rawat, Dyuti Mishra, Gunjna Thakur, Palak Chauhan, Kalpna Sharma, Shweta Sharma, Vertik Chauhan, Sparsh Negi, Arushi Kalmolta, Alisa Thakur, Gaurav Lekta, Harshit Chauhan, Divyangi Chauhan and Shimona secured bronze medals in this championship. This team was adjudged overall winner in the championship.

Om Prakash Wins Gold Medal In Asian Grand Prix

htwOm Prakash, a trainee of National Athletics Coach Bhupinder Singh brought laurels to the country by winning a gold medal in shot put during the Asian Grand Prix 2017 held in China. Secretary of Hamirpur Athletics Association Pawan Kumar Verma told Himachal This Week that for the last 28 years, Bhupinder Singh had provided athletics coaching in the Government Degree College, Hamirpur and the association was grateful to him for his extraordinary services.
