Himachali Wrestlers Neglected

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of April 22,  2017, “Himachali Wrestlers Neglected”. Wrestling competitions are organised in almost every village in lower areas of the state. However, it is also a fact that organisers invite known wrestlers from neighbouring states to act as crowd pullers. Himachali wrestlers are ignored and only add up to the number of participants in such competitions. Wrestlers from other staes including Punjab, Haryana and Delhi walk away with top honours and prize money. The state government should also take initatives to promote wrestling in this hilly state as there is no dearth of talent here.

Save Farmland

Is there any law under which farmland is being sold for construction of houses in the state? Farmers are allured to sell their land at a premium and concrete jungles have come up in Himachal also. As a result, the green cover is dimnishing in addition to reduction inl;evel agaricultural land. Hills are razed for construction of houses and debris is being dumped in nullahs and rivers thus damaging ecology. The government should ban sale of agricultural land. It should be used for agriculture practices if at all it has to be sold.
