Himachali Cinema In Dumps

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of June 3, 2017, “Himachali Cinema In Dumps”. There have been some individual efforts by Himachali producers and directors to make films in pahari language. However, Himachali cinema is still in its nascent stage as they don’t have any support from any quarters. The state government should extend support so that Himachali cinema makes its presence felt as regional cinema. It is another matter that some of himachali films have won national awards and international accolades. However much needs to be done in future.

Tap Solar Energy

Focus should be on harnessing renewable solar energy and putting a blanket ban on establishing hydro power projects to save the natural beauty of Himachal. Why we are not putting efforts to tap solar enery that has 33000 MW potential in Himachal? Huge expenses incurred on errecting poles and wires can be saved by establishing a plant in every village and its maintennce can be handed over to villagers. The state is suffering losses due to hydro power projects that have destroyed natural beauty thus hitting tourism sector also. Only tourism sector can make Himachal a self relaint state if tapped fully.
