Slackness Of Police

Death of an accused in custody brings a bad name to the law and order situation and Kotkhai police has shown laxity. It is showing carelessness in the midst of public outrage over the Kotkhai rape and murder case. How can an accused be murdered in police custody when the state government had approached the High Court for directions to the Central Bureau of Investigation keeping in view the sensitive nature of the case? It was a rot on the law and order situation as it was an effort to remove the witness. Himachal’s image is at stake in the wake of increasing public outcry even as the government has changed entire staff of Kotkhai Police Station. The law will take its own course but the witness has been neutralized in the ongoing police investigations.  It is a shameful situation and the government has not been able to gauge it correctly.  The government should ensure that the matter doesn’t flares up; otherwise warning signals are visible.  The Cabinet meeting should have discussed Kotkhai case and strong measures to be taken to control the situation. The Congress government and party has to ward off effects of Kotkhai episode to come clean and making itself relevant. The BJP call also fires many salvos at the government over law and order situation in the state. Will Himachal prepare for the next election over the body of its daughter? Accusations hurled at the government are becoming serious because people not only in Shimla but also in entire Himachal are protesting.
