Hike in Price of Fruit Plants

htwThe Horticulture Department almost doubled the prices of fruit plants. Now the orchardists will have to cough out more this time to purchase fruit plants. As a result, they are hesitant to to purchase new plants after the price hike. Notably horticulture department is busy in distributing fruit plants consignment after the onset of monsoon season. However it has increased the prices of fruit plants to a great extent. According to sources, nursery owners were constantly putting pressure on the department to increase the price of fruit plants. They argued that they had to put in lot of hard work and labour in order to produce fruit plants in nurseries. But the amount they get in return is too meager as compared to efforts poured in. As a result, price of fruit plants was increased.However orchardists seems to be little perturbed over recent price hike and considering it wise to not to make any new purchases. They have a point that they will loose their investment even in case the fruit plants purchased at increased price perishes. In fact orchardists are showing more interest in fruit plants of low cost or highly subsidised plants. Deputy Director, Horticulture Department Dr. R.K. Dhiman said that price of fruit plants has been increased this time. Only few plants have received a considerable hike while prices maximum plants is increased five to ten percent only, added he.
