Will Shimla Surprise?

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of June 17, 2017, “Will Shimla Surprise”. Shimla Municipal Corporation election results are eye opener for both the political parties. They refelct that upcoming genral assembly elections later this year will witness an interesting fight between both the parrties. The BJP is gearing up for its return to power riding on Modi wave whereas the Congress is trying to accomplish its Mission Repeat.  Even as Modi wave was ostensibly not visible in civic body elections, yet the BJP captured Shimla Municipal Corporation for the first time with the help of an independent. Electoral battle in assembly election will be more interesting.

Hasty Inaugurations

Leaders in Himachal want their names to appear on inuguration plates of different developmental schemes. It happened in Kangra where MLA Pawan Kajal inaugurated Daulatput ITI on one day and Transport and Technical Education Minister GS Bali inaugurated the same next day. Inagurating one scheme twice is beyond understanding. It was witneseed during inauguration of other schemes also in the past. The practice of taking credit is hampering development. How will the state progress when money is spent twice on inauguration of schemes?
