The Congress recently organised two rallies; one in Dharamshala and second in Nagrota Bagwan. First is the summer capital of Himachal and second is GS Bali Transport Minister’s home constituency. There has been a lot of street stories about factionalism in the Congress and Himachal This Week survey indicated that Shinde’s advice to groups to come together will not work. It was virtually the graphic representation of groups if one sees two pictures of rallies.

In first rally, there was Chief Minister and his favorite minister Sudhir Sharma but both were absent in the second rally. The same thing can be stated about Vidhan Sabha Speaker BBL Butail, who is a senior party leader as he too was absent from the second rally.

In the second rally, GS Bali and Himachal Pradesh Congress Committee president Sukhwinder Singh Sukhu were leading hosts. Shinde never bothered to ask as to why two rallies? And where is the Chief Minister? Main purpose of the second gathering seemed to be to establish upgraded importance of his host Bali, political observers feel.

This was no way of uniting party rather it wasreportedly playing favoritism to friendly leaders. The Congress was apparently trying to begin its electoral exercise as the elections are round the corner. But the way its leaders are acting is further disastrous for the party in its unity show, political observers point out.

Himachal This Week survey had shown that people were not hopeful of Shinde bringing unity between two major groups represented by Chief Minister and HPCC president. There is no doubt that Virbhadra Singh is tallest leader and this should not have led to his devaluation by reportedly mentioning no one will lead the election but the collective leadership of the party, political observers point out.

Earlier at Shimla he had announced that Virbhadra Singh will be seventh Chief Minister of the Congress government in Himachal. These contradictory statements and wayward rallies can’t weave the party in one thread.  The party workers are getting confused as to why Congress is slowly sinking in self harming actions to disappoint voters?
