Himachal’s Pain & Anguish

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of July 22, 2017, “Himachal’s Pain & Anguish”. The public outcry over Kotkhai rape and murder case deeply reflected how people were anguished over the gruesome incident. As the police role came under scanner, people in Shimla district were on roads deamnding justice for the 16 year old school girl. Public anger grew further due to turn of events in the case later. Now the CBI is probing the case, people hope that truth behind the entire mystry will be unraveled to provide justice to the victim.

MNREGA’s Importance

MNREGA scheme is also being implemented in Himachal to implement public welfare works at panchayat level. It is also providing employment to people for implementation of grass root level schemes. This scheme can be made more effective through micro planning at grass root level. However arrogant behaviour of pradhans at some places halts developmental work. There are vilages which have not done any work under MNREGA. It would be better if ward members and pradhan work in coordination to make this scheme more useful.
