Himachal’s Kabaddi Stars

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of July 29, 2017, “Himachal’s Kabaddi Stars”. Sportspersons from this hilly state are making rapid strides in different sports and shining at national and international level. However, Himachal’s kabaddi players have marked their presence felt both in men and women categories as many of them have represented India in international competitions. Introduction of Pro Kabaddi League has given a much needed impetus to players from Himachal who have become household names not only in this hill state but in entire country. And appointment of India’s kabaddi star Ajay Thakur, hailing from Himachal, as DSP by the state government will certainly boost other players to excel in their respective sports.

Monsoon Woes

Good monsoon across the country will certainly help in agriculture porduction but people also face certain difficulties. Himachal has also suffered losses worth several crores and people have lost lives due to heavy rains. Four people dies at Theog due to collapse of a building. Mankind has no control over the natural process of rains but we can put in place system to reduce losses. Disaster management fails miserably during monsoon even as the government spends crores of rupees on it. The government should seriously ponder over this problem.
