Private Educational Institutions Should Come Forward To Uplift Sports Standard

Sports has not picked that much pace in Himachal as it should have. Everyone’s participation is required to elevate sports to a respectable position in the state. Thousands of private educational institutes at school and college level are functioning in Himachal. Many of these educational institutes have sports facilities on their premises.About 50 private schools with more than strength of 500 students are operating in the periphery of Hamirpur town alone. Similar is the case in almost all towns of Himachal Pradesh with some good schools functioning in rural areas also.

Sports level can be elevated to a great extent if these schools adopt one sport depending upon facilities available. Participation of private schools needs to be ensured if we want to elevate sports standards. A little initiative from private schools will not only help in producing future sportsstars but also help in improving fitness of general students.

Top private schools have good playgrounds and halls for indoor games as well. Most of the games today are either played indoor or small playgrounds are required for maximum sports. Therefore appropriate infrastructure for sports training already exist in many private schools. Many private colleges have proved helpful in elevating the sports standard in the state. More than 50 outdoor and indoor games have got accreditation from Himachal Pradesh Sports Council. Play field for many of these sports require a small piece of land only. The college management with a little expenditure and some sports training to the students could produce good players for the state. And at the same time can improve fitness level of the students in drill period.

The school and college management should appoint a sports trainer as per the sports training facility in the institution. The state expects that besides providing quality education, private educational institutions should also contribute in polishing quality players that could bring honour for the state.
