Ticket Aspirants

One can assess the intensity before assembly elections in Himachal as aspirants are proving heavy on aspirations. Aspirants are making a beeline for party ticket before real issues come to the fore in political battle. The political indicator is attractive in this hilly state even as the main political parties are yet to unravel their cards. Many doctors, administrative officers and retired personnel are seeking ticket as there is no retirement age in the politics. More than three hundred aspirants have applied for Congress ticket. The BJP’s initiatives have also propelled many workers to aspire for the party ticket. However, aspirations will also be defined when they enter electoral battle. It is difficult to finalise a candidate as per the choice of voters or acquaint electorate with candidate’s potential. People elect a candidate having less shortcomings where caste considerations have an impact on poll prospects as qualification and potential take the backseat. A new section is emerging in Himachal that is forwarding their capability besides reservation while reaching higher posts. Increase in number of former officers to stake claim for a party’s ticket is a good sign in tribal areas. But how can we treat their candidacy as unbiased for the state’s concerns. Ironically, party based considerations dominate rather than state’s aspirations in present scenario of employees politics. Invisible cadre of parties is acting as a stumbling block in state progress. Statements by employee leaders have direct impact on work culture and language. There is desire to enter politics in the name of social service. Himachal’s electorate have established new records rather than treading a predetermined path if results of past elections are any indication. Awareness always played an important role as evident from lessons taught to leaders like Shanta Kumar who formulated national policies. And people’s aspirations are always on the rise despite escalating debt liability.
