The three day Khushwant Singh litfest organised every year at Kasauli concluded this year with eminent writers, litterateurs and Bollywood icons expressing their views on current issues and problems. The theme of Khushwant Singh litfest this year was ’70 Years of Freedom’. The litfest was organised by famous economist and BJP Leader Arun Shourie. Literateur Ashok Chopra, Vijay Tankha, Neelama Dalmia and Pawan Verma expressed their views on the theme of the litfest. The very first day of the litfest saw Sobha De, Divya Dutta, Amrita Narayan and Ananat Padamnabhan discussing in detail the kamasutra and sex, the topics that are considered to be a taboo in Indian society.

Shobha De said that nobody wants to discuss the sex in our society and considers it as a taboo. As a result women can not express their  feelings and opinion in open. It is because of this conservative nature and lack of discussion on sex that rape incidents are on an increase in India, she added.

The real knowledge of kamasutra brings happiness in married life of a couple. Divya Dutta during the litfest revealed that she was only 17 years old when she kissed for the first time. That moment is still fresh in my memory, said she. Divya also shared moments spent with Khushwant Singh during the litfest. She said that Khushwant was a man of jolly nature and used to present his views on every topic openly.

Kasauli Close To Heart

During the inauguration ceremony of litfest, Khushwant Singh’s son Rahul Singh threw light on the life of Khushwant Singh and said that Kasauli was very close to his heart. He tried to give impetus to girl education through his articles and he had immense respect for Indian army and humanity.
