In the last elections in the country the role of social media was underlined in all political promotion or critical work. It is straight, it is free and it is not censor-able. The result is that in high political drama, one can really hit the opponents without proof and spread lies or false notions about a party or candidate. In Himachal as is prevalent in the country as a whole, the role of media is impacting political parties and the atmosphere of the pre-election bonhomie.

But worse is when it is misused to call names to leaders as it happened in case of a farmer who after being troubled by neighbour’s cattle started abusing Prime Minister for this trouble as shown reportedly on the screen. No wonder that even Supreme Court has raised concern about this as many independent sources started criticisng the judiciary too.

Himachal’s political parties are active as they have established websites and constantly publicizing activities and other promotional material. Some of the political leaders are so aggressive that they are allegedly calling names to the adversaries.  The climate for the elections is now getting structured with clear positions in the battle of Mahabharata.

The Congress once for all has made it known that Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh will be the face of the party to enter in the arena, political observers point out. Previous confusion and counter claims have been set at rest. Apparent quibbling getting settled is good for the party to forge a strategy in the forthcoming battle. Youth will take the forefront but elder statesmen too will lead them by astute guidance. In the meantime, it has given more than 300 forms for the MLA applications @ price of Rs. 25000 each. Some legitimate cash seemed to ring in with this ready cash and fill the gaps made by anti-corruption campaign going on from Modi’s unrelenting tirade against black money.

The BJP is buoyant after huge success of PM Modi’s rally at Bilaspur and gifts of AIMS as well as IIIT for the state that will definitely contribute to education and health of the citizens. Similarly extension of trains to connect the hinterland of Amb with Chandigarh and Ambala are the other public welfare schemes announced by the party.  Now the fight between two parties is entering final stages when ticket distribution would show the strength of the forces as they array their troopers .
