‘Indian Style’ Enthralls Audience At Gaiety

A cultural competition was organised at Gaiety Theatre by Shimla Postal Department on the theme ‘Indian Style’. As many as 44 contestants participated in this competition from across the state. Contestants performed in various Indian styles in both the senior and junior categories. They participated in singing, dancing and mono acting. In singing the categories included solo song, Indian folk singing, classical and light vocal classical (ghazal). Flute and shehnai playing was also included in instrumental section. Group folk dance, mono acting and classical dance items were also part of the programme. The entire Gaiety Theatre echoed with enchanting and captivating musical performances. This was also a retreat for locals, who got a wonderful opportunity to watch Indian music styles at one platform.
When contestants came to perform Kulluvi natti, that was the wonderful moment for the audience. Artists, who registered their names in the Guinness Book of the World Records while performing in Kullu Dussehra, performed on the stage. The audience gave a heartiest welcome to them. Items, presented on the Himachali folk culture were the highlight of the event. In classical singing, Praveen Kumar Soleria bagged the first prize, while Ajay Mehra clinched top spot in light music category.
In folk song, Joginder Singh grabbed the title of winner. In solo classical dance performance of junior category, Sonal Sharma and in senior category, Naresh Sharma remained winners. In mono acting, Rajni Chandra got the first spot. In folk dance, Mandi block team clinched the winner’s title including Achhar Singh, Hemraj, Rahul, Jaichand, Manchand, Mohar Singh, Ram Narayan, Mamta Thakur, Anita Chaddha, Amra Devi and Reeta Devi. All these winners will take part in All India Postal Cultural Competition to be held in Bhuvneshwar from December 20 to December 24, 2017.
