Congress Staggering To Find Vision

The BJP had the bitter experience of losing stalwarts like Prem Kumar Dhumal and Satpal Satti but in this process new unexpected faces have emerged. In management parlance this is called uncovering. It happens when cover of seniors is removed, one may find talent or gems below. So the BJP discovered Jai Ram, a five times MLA. Again he belonged to Mandi region which had proved to be fertile for the party giving it a bumper crop of nine out of 10 MLAs.

The party will miss Dhumal who had slogged hard to achieve success in the election. In his first exercise of appointment and portfolio allocation, Chief Minister had faced tough task of balancing the regional aspirations which created tremendous dissatisfaction amongst party workers of four districts viz Chamba, Hamirpur Bilaspur and Sirmour. He will have to manage the shouting party people.

While glitter and shine in BJP camp was being celebrated with drums, the Congress was in deep chintan move. Introspection of the party will bring same old complaints. Many senior commentators have been writing for long that no block or booth level work was going on in the party and there is cat and dog fight in every block. No one seemed to bother and no one cared to sort out the problems. They thought with Virbhadra Singh they could win and do not need any ground support, The result is for every one to see.

No doubt Virbhadra Singh fought valiantly lone battle but organizations need team work and that was lacking in the party. Now Rahul will face sullen faces with familiar alibis. Emotional stress is so high that some of the participants have lost cool. There is need to build long term vision for the party and get ready to fight elections in future. There is no vision to train and identify such leaders in Congress, political observers point out.
