Himachal Wins Women National Kabaddi Title

With exceptionally high performance at GMC Balayogi Indoor Stadium Gachibowli, Hydarabad, Himachal’s Women Kabaddi team defeated Indian Railway comfortably by 38-25 scoreline to make history. It conquered Indian Railway team  in the final match to emerge winners of national kabaddi championship for women.

Team was accorded a rousing reception when it reached Bilaspur arrived at Bilaspur on Sunday with moments of pride. Constituency leader Subhash Thakur and members of association welcomed the champion team with garlands. They expressed their delight in front of the cameras. This is an immense achievement in the field of sports for Himachal, said Raj Kumar Bharanta, president, Himachal Kabaddi Association.

Senior women team was led by international player Pooja Thakur. It smashed Delhi and Rajasthan in the pool matches and Haryana in the semi final. From last 39 years, Indian Railway were consistently winning the title but this year Himachal’s Women Kabaddi team created history.

Kabaddi Federation Cup in Manali

Raj Kumar Bharanta, president of Himachal Kabaddi Association informed that Himachal will host the Kabaddi Federation Cup in Manali in March 2019. This was decided in Kabaddi Federation of India’s meeting held in Hydrabad. Top eight teams from both categories- men and women will participate in the federation cup.
