HPU Women Win Inter University Handball Championship

Himachal once again has proved its potential in sports. In All India Inter University Championship held in Jalandhar, HPU women handball team won gold with their victory in the final match. In the final match HPU defeated Chandigarh University by 28-24 to emerge winners. Captain Nidhi scored 12 goals, maximum by anyone in the final match with good support from Shivani (five), Deepa (four), and Jyoti and Priyanka (two each). Goalkeeper Deeksha showed excellent presence of mind in the game and saved goals for her team. Punjabi University, Patiala secured 3rd position in the championship in which 16 Indian universities participated in the six-day All India Inter University Handball Championship for Women held at Lovely Professional University. Director, HPU, SK Sharma congratulated girls for their win. General secretary, Himachal Pradesh Handball Association, Nand Kishore Sharma also expressed his delight and proclaimed that association will honour the women team.
