Himachal’s Historic Election

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of December 23, 2017, “Himachal’s Historic Election”. Himachali voters have given clear mandate to the Bharatiya Janata Party this time besides maintaining the tradition of changing government after every five years. The BJP faced its major setback as party’s chief ministerial candidate Prem Kumar Dhumal lost assembly election from Sujanpur assembly segment. In addition, BJP starlwarts like state president Satpal Satti and Ravinder Ravi also faced defeat. In Congress, GS Bali also tasted defeat from Nagrota Bagwan seat. The BJP got 11 seats from Kangra district and assumed power in this hilly state besides nine seats from Mandi district.

Directionless Youth

The country has high hopes from youths as they have the potential to achieve nearly impossible things. It is also true that they don’t listen to anybody. As a result, they are losing direction as they are allured by different things. Lack of petience and focus, greed, violence are becoming integral part of their behaviour. It is a matter of concern and the issue must be redressed. Parents are equally responsible for this situation as they remain busy outside and are unable pay attention to youths. The society and parents should hold programmes that instill moral values among youths and also for country’s better future.
