The number of abandoned cows is on a continuous rise in India and their attack on crop of farmers has become a cause of worry. In Himachal too, the figure of abandoned animals has touched nearly 30,000 mark. Farming is already proving to be a non-profitable avocation due to many factors. Burdened under debt liability, they are committing suicides.

The question of providing employment takes test of almost every government but no government succeeded to cross this hurdle. People will now analyse the performance of Jai Ram Thakur's government in this context. Finding answer to the question of generating employment opportunities becomes of paramount importance at a stage when a bigger strength of youth is coming out from education institutes with degrees in hand. We need to utilise this work force in some positive work to take advantage of the young force. In case of failure this asset could prove to be a threat too. However understanding employment generation is not a cake walk.

Union Health Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda has filed his nomination papers for Rajya Sabha seat from Himachal Pradesh. Flanked by Chief Minister Jai Ram Thakur, BJP state president Satpal Singh Sati, Vidhan Sabha Speaker Rajiv Bindal and others, Nadda handed over five sets of paper to presiding officer ADM GC Negi at the state assembly secretariat in Shimla.

Kabaddi Federation of India has started preparations for the Asian Games. It will hold national camp from March 15 to April 14 after which Indian Kabaddi teams (men and women) will selected for the games.In this national camp, seven players of Himachal have been selected. Vishal Bhardwaj will attend men's national camp along with star kabaddi player Ajay Thakur.

Girls from Himachal will play for the Indian handball team in the South Asian Senior Women Handball Championship. Six girls have been selected from the region to attend the National Training Camp in Lucknow that will held from March 12 to 30 of this month. Handball Federation of India will final women team for the South Asian Handball Championship in the camp.

Being a person with disabilities in India can be tough challenge as the country is yet to evolve as a disabled friendly country. However, there are many who time and again rise to this challenge through their pure determination and grit, and in the process become an inspiration to not only people who suffer from disabilities, but also the youth of the nation. One such person is Uma, who fought her disability and for the past four years has been working at the Government Zonal Hospital, Solan, as a computer operator.

The Centre has started tightening noose around companies that are increasing drug prices on their own will. The National Pharmaceutical Pricing Authority (NPPA) has decided that license of a company will be repealed if it is found that it has increased the price of a drug or medical equipment more than 10% in a year. Besides this, legal action will also be taken against the company. NPPA has given these orders after revelation in a report that private hospitals are making rich dividends by printing more MRP on drug packets.
