Himachal Lacks Entertainment
This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of December 20, “Himachal Lacks entertainment.” There are negligible entertainment sources in different towns across the state. Earlier, few towns had cinema halls but majosity of them have now closed down due to advent of latest gadgets and techniques. Different sections of the society have to remain content with whatever is available in the name of entertainment facilities like television, playgrounds, parks and treks for morning and evening walkers. Some entertainment parks have come up at few places but they cater to a limited area and section of the society. Efforts should be directed to create more entertainment facilities across the state.

New Year Day
Newspapers on the first day of the New Year carried some good and bad happenings of the 2014. Good news was that the government has decided to open two thousand depots besides increasing the commission of depot holders. It will improve the public distribution system in the state. The Centre also decided to transfer the cash subsidy in bank accounts of LPG consumers. However death of thirty five people in a stampede on the eve of New Year was tragic. We should take care to avoid such incidents in future.
