The electricity board in its proposal given to regulatory commission has demanded to bring down its losses of Rs. 1318.50 crore. The board is suffering huge losses and that is the reason it has demanded to hike electricity tariff. But the last decision regarding hike in electricity tariffs rests with electricity regulatory commission. According to information, electricity regulatory commission has sought suggestions and objections from public by February 24 regarding electricity board’s proposal of hike in electricity tariff. Public can present their suggestions and objections in front of electricity regulatory commission.
The regulatory commission will also organise a public hearing regarding the same on March 5 in Shimla where everybody, domestic, industrial and commercial users can present their opinion. The regulatory commission will take a final call only after hearing all parties.
Subsidy On Domestic Consumption
Himachal Pradesh Electricity Regulatory Commission last year did not increase domestic and commercial electricity tariff. The electricity tariffs was hiked marginally for industrialists. However experts feel that this domestic electricity tariff could also witness a hike in the state. However the state government could provide relief here as it provides subsidy on domestic electricity consumption.
