90 Himachali Kick Boxers For Nationals

htwThe state kick boxing team has been selected to participate in national kick boxing championship to be organised from January 15 to January 20 in New Delhi. 90 players from the state, including 27 in sub-junior category, 28 in junior category and 30 in senior category, have found place in the state team. Notably, about 2000 players from all over the country will prove their mettle in the National Kick-Boxing championship. General Secretary of Himachal Pradesh Kick Boxing Association Sanjay Yadav and Chairman of Technical Committee Ranbir Thakur told that coaching camps are being organised for team in various districts. Ranbir added 41 players in the state team have been selected from Kullu district.  Players in boy’s category include Sagar Verma, Harsimran, Sahil Chauhan, Rakesh, Ashish, Aman, Ankit, Aryan, Situ, Nirbhay, Kavyansh, Antriksh, Dushyant, Aryan Jamwal, Prateek Shinde, Pramod, Parv , Nitin, Pushkar Raj, Abhay, Pritam, Sundar Singh, Prabal Thakur, Vipin and Ishan. Whereas in girl’s category, Nancy Sharma, Sakshi, Tulsi, Sukhvinder, Bhavna, Sukriti, Priyanka, Manju, Shreya, Ritika, Tanisha, Shruti Kashyap, Anjali, Geeta Devi and Aanchal have been selected in the team.

High Hopes From The Team

For the past three years, Himachal’s kick boxing team has surprised all by their brilliant performances at the national. Recently four Himachali kick boxers won four medals for the country in Asian Championship. At national level too, Himachal team is close to winning 200 medals. Sanjay Yadav said that they are expecting brilliant performance from the team in national championship. The team will leave for the championship on January 14.

Suresh Wins National Boxing Silver

Himachal This Week, Bilaspur

htwSuresh Kumar of SAI Hostel, Bilaspur clinched silver medal in the Under-19 National School Boxing Championship held in Delhi. Suresh won the silver medal after defeating Kiran Pal of Haryana in the 60 kg light weight category. After dominating in the final match of the championship, he however lost his control and a Delhi boxer won the gold medal. Earlier too, Suresh Kumar performed very well in many championships. Last year he clinched gold medal in the under-17 National School Boxing Championship, held in Anandpur Sahib.

Himachal Proves Mettle In National Rugby

Himachal This Week

htwHimachali men and women rugby teams proved their mettle in the National Rugby (Men & Women) Championship held in Telangana. The women team bagged silver medal while men team managed to secure bronze medal for the state. The final match in women’s category was played between Manipur and Himachal, in which former outshined the latter by five points. Men’s team also secured the bronze medal in the championship. Due to their outstanding performance in the championships, eight players from Himachal have been selected for the Asian Games to be held in May this year.
