Trout Fishing Boosts Tourism

Tourists can enjoy fishing for whole day at a nominal fee

htwIf you are a non-vegetarian and love fishing too, then we have a good news for you. Tourists can fish for all day at Patlikuhl for only Rs. 100 and tourists are making most of this offer. About 1400 tourists made one day fishing license by paying fees of Rs. 100 from March 2016 to October 2016. It is proving a good medium to attract tourists towards Himachal Pradesh. One can enjoy fishing from March to October at Patlikuhl. Even in 2015, fishing licenses were issued to more than 1400 tourists. Whereas the same figure confined to nearly 500 to 600  earlier. Deputy Director of Trout Fish Farm, Patlikuhl, S.P. Mehta said the department conserves trout seedlings in rivers and nullahs every year in order to give impetus to angling tourism in the state. Tourists are charged Rs. 100 per day to issue license for fishing while the people associated with this business are charged Rs. 100 per year.

Ban On Fishing

Till February Fishery Department gives license for fishing in trout conserved in rivers and nullahs of the state for eight months. However, it imposes complete ban on fishing for four months (November to February) in the state, as this is the breeding season of trout fish.

Himachal Avails More Loan

htwHimachal government is all set to take a loan of Rs. 1000 crore by the end of this financial year in addition to Rs. 700 crore loan taken two months ago. The state is already reeling under a debt of Rs. 35,000 crore and it will increase to Rs. 36,000 crore after new loan. The state government needs money to complete the budget announcements by the end of current financial year and also for the supplementary budget. Already grappling with shortage of funds, the government will carry developmental work forward with the help of additional loan. It has recently announced the dearness allowance for employees and pensioners, for which it needs Rs. 150 crore to Rs. 200 crore. Besides this different departments are also facing shortage of funds to complete works announced by the state government in the budget. Now the Finance Department has applied to the Reserve Bank of India for a loan. The loan amount has been issued on January 25, 2017 for a period of 10 years. The government will have to pay this debt within a period of ten years i.e. by January 25, 2027.

Biscuit Industry Demands GST Exemption

Chandigarh: The Rs. 36,000 crore Indian Biscuit Industry has demanded a complete waiver on Good & Services Tax on ‘Low Price High Nutrition’ (LPHN) biscuits priced under MRP Rs.100 per kilo. “LPHN biscuits are the only hygienically produced affordable snack sold in small packs retailing at Rs. 2 to Rs. 5.  Consumed mainly by low income group, any increase in price of LPHN biscuits causes a direct reduction in demand. While there is a 62% weighted average hike in input costs (Maida, Sugar and Vegetable Oil) over the last decade the Biscuit Manufacturers have been unable to increase their realization pro-rate,” said Mayank Shah – Vice President and Spokesperson of the ‘Biscuit Manufacturers Welfare Association’. Glucose biscuits retailed at Rs. 70 per kilo today attract net taxes of Rs.7.21 which is higher than the value addition earned by the industry (Rs.7.01 only). “On behalf of over 600 manufacturers of Low Price High Nutrition Biscuits retailed at up to MRP of Rs.100 per kilo, I urge the GST Council to completely exempt LPHN Biscuits,” concluded Mayank Shah.
