Vasant Panchami Marks Spring Season

htwVasant Panchami is a popular Hindu festival that highlights the coming season of spring. Though, the festival was celebrated throughout the country, it was an awesome atmosphere at Dhalpur Ground, Kullu, where the festival was celebrated with gaiety and fervour. It is a one of its kind festival which is celebrated in Kullu after Vijyadashmi. This traditional festival marks the meeting of Lord Ram, Bharat and Guru Vashishth. So, people here are emotionally attached to this festival. The celebrations commenced with the Rath Yatra, after the idols of Lord Raghunath, Sita, Hanuman and others were brought in a beautifully decorated palanquin from the Raghunath Temple at Sultanpur and placed in a wooden chariot at Dhalpur. The rath was pulled by devotees from the northern end of the Dhalpur Ground to the camp temple in the middle of the ground. A large number of people attired in the traditional dresses participated in the function. A man in the garb of Lord Hanuman ran around brushing people with his sindoor (vermilion)-laden body. According to the local folk, the touch of Hanuman was considered auspicious. Women were seen in yellow attire during the festival celebrations.

‘Nayan Bhari Talaiya’ Applauded

htw‘Nayan Bhari Talaiya’, a play written by Noor Zaheer and directed by Kehar Singh Thakur was staged at Kala Kendra, Kullu. It was a joint effort of Active Monal Cultural Association and Sangeet Natak Academy, Delhi. Story of the play begins when we see drought situation in a kingdom for three years and people are wandering in search of water. Now, we see a saint, who told the king that there can be rain but one person from the family of the king has to sacrifice his or her life near a well. Now, the king decided to tie the knot of his mentally-challenged son with a poor girl and tells everyone that this girl Sukhni is a goddess who will sacrifice her life. People also accept this decision as everybody wanted to get over the drought. No one stands against the decision accept Sukhni’s childhood friend Bindhna but everyone opposed him. Now, he gave everyone a challenge that he will bring water towards the state without any sacrifice and he also proved himself in this on the day of Sukhni’s sacrifice. As soon as he reached the place, they push Sukhni towards the well. She died and people think that it Ws a miracle because of Sukhni’s sacrifice. No one listens to Bindhna that he is the one who brought water to the village. At that time, the saint arrived; who had made this prediction and tells everyone that he wanted everyone to know that their king is so mean that he sacrificed the life of a poor girl rather than anyone from his family. The audience appreciated all the actors for their fantastic acting.

‘Himachal Ki Awaz’ Sensation On Small Screen

htw htwDivya Himachal’s singing sensation Pooja Kumari has made her way to the small screen. Divya Himachal’s singing talent hunt ‘Himachal ki Awaz 2016’ runner-up Pooja has entered top 30 contestants in the singing reality show SaReGaMaPa Little Champs of Zee TV. First of all she made it to top 100 and recently she received a call from Mumbai for the next round. Pooja had secured second position in the ‘Himachal ki Awaz’ event, which gave her enough confidence to participate on the national level.
