Cheaper Land To Industries In New Areas

The state government has come up with numerous relaxations for industrialists in its endeavour to boost the pace of industrialisation in new industrial areas in Himachal. It had tried to attract investors to new industrial areas by making amendments in old rules. The government is confident that new relaxations being offered now will develop new industrial areas. It is developing Kandrori and Pandoga industrial areas right from the scratch. Besides this, there is a plan for Dabhota too. The work for development of these industrial areas is going on in fast pace. Notably, Union Government is providing funds for development of two industrial areas. The government has decided to provide land on cheaper rates to industrialists at the places where no industries have been established till yet. The amendments also include a clause of providing land at cheaper rates to industrialist that will provide direct employment to at least 100 Himachalis. Industrialists desirous of establishing an industry falling under category B and category C will also be provided land at cheaper rate. The Industries Department has plenty of land with more than 8000 beeghas land bank in its kitty. But industrialists hesitate to establish industries in all other parts of Himachal barring few major areas. This step is aimed at alluring industrialists to establish units industries They will have to pay the premium of land on annual basis, the price of which will be decided by a committee of officials.

The committee will include Additional Chief Secretary r Principal Secretary, Industries Department, Managing Director, Himachal Pradesh State Industrial Development Corporation (HPSIDC) and Director, Industries Department. There are many other relaxations that are offered in such areas. Now it will be interesting to watch how many industries will the state government’s step attract in other parts of the state. The industries are asking for connectivity. The Union Government has linked Shimla with air connectivity once again that will provide relief to industrialists. The department has land in Shimla district too. But how many industries will come here, only time will tell.
