NEWSHoroscopes have long been ridiculed by science but a new study suggests the month of your birth really can affect long term health. The month of your birth can affect which diseases will afflict you, according to new research. In a recent study conducted by Spanish scientists says that one’s health may be written in the month one born. It also suggests that how the month one was born affects which diseases one is likely to suffer. The scientists mapped with months to 27 different chronic diseases. Women born in July were 27% more likely to be diagnosed with high blood pressure and were at a 40% increased risk of incontinence. Women born in June had a 33% lower risk of migraines and a 35% less chance of experiencing menopause problems. Men born in June were 34% less likely to suffer depression and 22% less likely to be diagnosed with lower back pain. Men born in September were more likely to have thyroid than born in winters. The study also predicts that overall September born children are the least likely to suffer from chronic diseases. On the whole these babies appeared to have the least chance of being diagnosed with any chronic disease, finds the study. The researchers speculate that in September level of Vitamin D from Sunshine help regulate thousands of genes during development and a long-lasting influence on health.

Girls born in June were less likely to suffer from migraines and menopause problems compared to girls born in other months. Seasonal changes in ultraviolet rays, Vitamin D levels and viruses—more common in the winter- may affect foetal development, experts believe. The researches conducted the study to see if it made a difference to long-term health, and were surprised to find it has a significant impact for some conditions. “Men who were born in September were almost three times more likely to suffer thyroid problems than those born in January,” states the study. Professor Jose Antonio Quesada, the study’s lead author, said, “In this study we have evidenced a significant association between the month of birth and the occurrence of various chronic diseases and long-term health problems.”

The University of Alicante, carried out the study on nearly 30,000 people and found that some months had beneficial effects on health. It indicates the co-relation between birth month and chronic diseases. The month you born can predict which disease will afflict you in your life. The new findings were published in the journal Medicina Clinica. Russell Foster, a neuroscientist in the prestigious university said, “I am not giving voice to astrology. It is non-sense but we are not immune to seasonal interference.”
