Chief Minister Honours Cricketer Sushma Verma

htwIndian woman cricketer Sushma Verma got appreciation for her work as she has been offered the post of Deputy Superintendent of Police in Himachal Police. Honouring the member of Indian women cricket team Sushma Verma, Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh presented her a cheque of Rs 5 lakh and offered the post of DSP. Sushma Verma represented the Indian women cricket team in the recently held Women Cricket World Cup Tournament in England as wicket keeper. She hails from remote village Gadheri in Himri Panchayat of Shimla rural Assembly segment. Lauding her achievements, Chief Minister said it would be an inspiration for other young players of the state. He said there was no dearth of budding talents in the state. Sushma had brought laurels not only to the state but also the country as a whole, he added. Sushma Verma said she always aspired to serve in the police since her childhood.

Hatgarh School Wins Balh Block Tournament

htwDuring the four-day long sports tournament organised at Balh school, different participating schools of the block exhibited a great zeal. As many as 560 players of 30 schools participated in this tournament. Hatgarh school won the overall winner title. In kabaddi, Hatgarh school adjudged winner followed by Meramasit at the second position. Bagla school and King George School, Ner Chowk clinched the top two spots in volleyball. In kho-kho, Galma School secured first position while Crescent School, Ratti remained runner-up. Gagal School won the badminton event followed by Perri School. In discipline, Hatgarh school remained on the top. Cultural competitions were also organised during the tournament.

GSSS Kwarag Wins Kabaddi, Wrestling

htwGovernment Senior Secondary School, Kwarag emerged victorious in kabaddi and wrestling during the under-19 Kandaghat zonal tournament. The team performed well in other sport events too. The team will now participate in district level tournament starting from August 20.

Players Show Brilliance In Block Tournament

htwA block level tournament was organised at Thalaut School near Mandi where players of under-19 age group displayed brilliant sporting skills. As many as 300 players from the block participated in the tournament. Sports events included kho-kho, kabaddi, volleyball, badminton and there were cultural events too to entertain players. Nau-Panau team was adjudged overall winner of the tournament as they played and excelled in every game. In volleyball and badminton, Nau-Panau emerged winner. In march past, Balu school clinched the top spot while Nau-Panau remained on 2nd position. In kabaddi, Hataun school emerged winner followed by Balu for the second position. For discipline, Taper school was adjudged as the best team. Health Minister Kaul Singh Thakur gave away prizes to the winners at the end.
