htwAs many as 450 players from across the state participated in a two daylong kickboxing championship held at Mahadev in Sundernagar. In 25 kg category, Tarun from Mandi clinched the top spot, while Naren and Ayush stood second and third. In 22 kg category, Kavyansh from Kullu grabbed the winner’s title. Pushkar from Kullu remained on the top spot in 28 kg category followed by Anmol Sharma from Hamirpur and Akash Hans from Bilapsur at second and third positions respectively. In girls, 22 kg category, Manna Sohal from Kullu secured the top spot. Tanvi and Pranjal from Mandi bagged second and third positions in this category. Shivangi from Hamirpur remained winner in 25 kg category, followed by Kritika from Mandi. Shreya Guleria from Kullu grabbed the eyeballs while showing her brilliance in the sport and managed to win the game as well as winning hearts of the viewers. Shagun Gautam and Ananya Patiyal from Bilapsur bagged second and third positions. In 20 kg category in 7 to 9 years age category, Ishanya Thakur from Bilapsur, Akriti Thakur from Kullu and Vaishali Sharma from Bilapsur secured first three positions respectively. In 27 kg category, Shagun Sharma from Bilapsur defeated Himani Thakur (also from Bilapsur) to clinch the top spot. In 35 kg category, Sana Shrama from Bilaspur remained on the top position after defeating Sonia from Chamba.

Himachal’s Susheel Wins Bronze Medals In WPFG

htwHimachal’s Susheel Kumar brought laurels to the state as well as country as he won two bronze medals in the recently organised World Police and Fire Games at Los Angeles in America. Kumar had won gold medal last year in the national games held in Delhi while he was employed in the BSF in Indora. Susheel Kumar hails from Jaswan Paragpur in Kangra district. The World Police and Fire Games (WPFG) is a biennial athletic event, open to active and retired law enforcement and fire service personnel throughout the world. The WPFG Federation is an arm of the California Police Athletic Federation (CPAF), an American non-profit organization. The Games attract approximately 10,000 entrants, slightly fewer than the Summer Olympic Games, and exceeding the third position holder, the Commonwealth Games.

Hot Weather Table Tennis Championship

Himachal This Week, Shimla

htwHot Weather Table Tennis Championship which concluded at Indira Gandhi Sports Complex here evoked a huge response. In cadet girls section, Bhavyapriya from Mandi clinched the first position, while Tanisha from Shimla remained on the second position. Divyang Sharma from Chandigarh defeated Siddhant from Gurugram in cadet boys section. Devyansh from Delhi beat Krish from Chandigarh in sub-junior boys category. In junior girls category, Ananya from Mohali secured the top spot followed by Vimshi from Delhi. Sahil Sharma from Chandigarh remained winner after defeating Raghav Bhatt in junior boys category. In youth girls section, Neha Sharma from Jalandhar bagged the first position whereas, Kumkum from Mandi secured second position. In men’s section, Adarsh Rana defeated Pankaj Sharma to clinch the first spot. Meanwhile, in team category, Delhi stood at first position. In Himachal veteran category, Jaswant Gangta, Muneesh and Samar remained on the first three positions. As many as 300 players from across North India, including Himachal, Jammu & Kashmir, Punjab, Haryana, Chandigarh, Delhi and Uttar Pradesh participated in this championship.
