CS takes stock of arrangements for VS elections

Shimla – Chief Secretary V.C. Pharka presided over the meeting of Nodal Officers, here today to review the poll preparedness for ensuing elections to the State Legislative Assembly. He reviewed the progress of various departments including Education, Health, Irrigation & Public Health, Public Works, Information & Public Relations, Transport, Police, Excise & Taxation, Income Tax, National Informatics, Information & Technology, Telecommunication services, Postal Services and Rural Development which was presented through power point presentation. Pharka stressed upon the need to fully equip every polling booth of the State with necessary infrastructure and amenities. He asked Education and Welfare Departments for provision of ramps and wheel chairs to facilitate the persons with special abilities so that they could cast their votes with convenience. He also asked to engage two volunteers at each booth to facilitate the voters in exercising their franchise.
