Pinegrove Lifts Soccer Trophy

htwPinegroveSchool, Dharampur emerged winner in the 20th Bhupinder Singh Memorial Soccer Tournament held at The Lawrence School, Sanawar. In the final match, PinegroveSchool defeated Pathways School, Rewari and lifted the trophy. Spectators enjoyed the final match as both the teams showed their zeal to win the title.Until the half time, both the teams couldn’t score a single goal. In the second half too, they managed to hold each other from scoring any goal. Thus the match ended in a draw. The winner was then chosen by penalty shootout. Pingrove School managed to win the title by 5-3. Earlier, in semifinals, the first match was played between St. Edwards School, Shimla and Pinegrove School, Dharampur, in which the former defeated the latter by 4-2 and reached into final segment. Another match in the semifinals was played between Pathways School, Rewari and Bishop Cotton School, Shimla. Pathways defeated Bishop Cotton by 6-5 in that match. On the concluding day, winners were awarded by Chief Guest, Jagpreet Singh, Director, IPSE Sports. Aryaman Ahluwalia of The Lawrence School, Sanawar was declared Most Promising Player of the Tournament.

The 9th Shimla Running and Living Marathon would be organised by the Department of Youth Services and Sports on September 24, 2017. Stating this, a spokesperson of the Youth Services & Sport Department said this annual running event includes Half Marathon of 25km, 13km and 6km distance and locals along with tourists from across the country would participated in this. He said the run has become a landmark event on the running calendar for enthusiasts who come to Shimla from various parts of the country including Chennai, Kolkata, Mumbai, Delhi, Punjab, Haryana and Chandigarh. Started in 2009 with 6km and 21.1km run has now become a run fest with the course getting tougher including the longer 25km and 13km distances. He said the registration is now open online which would close on September 10. The ARTRAC band and participation of Pinegrove School and Shimla Pubic School among others have also become annual engagements.

Shimla Is State Judo Champion

Himachal This Week, Shimla

Shimla district emerged winner in the State Level Sub-junior Judo Championship organised here. Mandi district managed second spot in the championship. In various category events,  players from Shimla showed their brilliance but other districts too considerably well. Anshuman of Una marked his victory in 25kg category. In 35 kg category, Sujal Verma of Shimla clinched the top position. Rohit from Shimla proved his mettle in 40 kg category, whereas, in 45 kg category, Abhishek secured gold medal. In 50 kg category, Shimla’s Aditya Negi won the gold medal. In 55 plus category, Karan Thakur from Kullu remained on the first position.In girls section, Angel won gold medal in the 30-kg weight category. Mansi from Shimla emerged winner in 40 kg category. Hemja from Shimla stood on the top position in 48 kg category. After this hampionship, 12 boys and 12 girls have been selected for the national sub-junior championship to be held in Telangana from September 30 to October 4.
