ATM/Debit Card Fraud Doubled Over Two Years

The ATM/Debit card frauds have increased to more than double over the past two years in the country. It has grown by 179% from Rs 13.86 crore in 2014-15 to Rs 38.67 crore in 2016-17, according to a report. However in case of credit card frauds these declined to 24% from Rs 42.32 crore to Rs 32.03 crore over the same period. Himachal too has not remained untouched of this event as news of Himachalis got cheated in the same fashion has become common these days. Impostors somehow manage to retrieve ATM pin of innocent Himachalis telling them that they are calling from some bank and their ATM card has blocked. Less aware people most of times share their ATM pin with these fraudsters despite banks repeated warnings and alert calls.
