Shimla Wins State Judo Championship

Shimla clinched the overall winner’s title in the 27th State Judo championship held in Shimla. Players of Shimla showed their brilliance in various categories and thus the team was declared the overall winner. In junior section 55 kg category, Guddu from Hamirpur bagged the first position, while Vijay from Shimla and Mohil from Solan stood at second and third positions respectively. Tarun from Una topped the chart in 60 kg category, while Rahul from Una and Shubham from Hamirpur followed him at the second and third spots respectively.

In 66 kg category, Abhishek from Una remained winner after defeating Sanjay Pal from Hamirpur. Solan’s Rajan and Hamirpur’s Rohit jointly managed to win the third spot. Gaurav from Una clinched gold medal in 73 kg category, followed by Vishal from Bilaspur and Chetan from Solan at the second and third positions. In 81 kg category, Sumit from Una defeated Rohit from Hamirpur to bag gold medal. Vivek from Shimla and Ashish from Solan clinched first two spots in 90 kg category. In 100 kg category, Hamirpur’s Krishan showed brilliance and defeated Sohit from Una to get winner’s title. In the 100 plus category, Kangra’s Atul remained winner.

In boys section, Chirag from Una bagged gold medal in 50 kg category followed by Sahil and Shimla both from Shimla at second and third positions. In 55 kg category, Vikas from Una remained on the top spot after beating Hridyash from Shimla. In girls section, Shivani from Shimla got the top spot in 44 kg category. Tanu Kumari from Sirmaur tasted victory in 57 kg category, whereas, Ruchika from Shimla got the second spot. Diya from Solan remained on the top in 78 kg category of girls section. All the winners were awarded in the concluding ceremony of the championship.
