Department will encourage farmers and horticulturists to prepare herbal gardens. The department will work under National Ayush Mission in this direction. In fact the department will also provide plants to prepare herbal garden. Besides this, marketing facility of medicinal plants crop grown in herbal plants will also be extended to farmers by the department. However to avail the herbal garden facility, availability  of two hectares of land is mandatory for farmers. In case if a single farmer cannot fulfill this criteria, then they can meet the land pool condition by forming a group of four to five farmers. To avail this facility, farmers and horticulturists will have to apply at department office.

According to information Ayurveda department will also help farmers in growing medicinal plants under Nation Ayush Mission of union government. The applicant will also have to attach the parcha, tatima of the related land along with application submitted to department under the plan. The department will provide only those plants for herbal garden that are suitable as per the climatic conditions of the area. The department will distribute basil (tulsi), sarvagandha, ashwagandha, safed musli, harad, behada, amla and other medicinal plants. Besides this, study will also be carried before establishing a herbal garden as what particular animals could prove dangerous for the particular crop in that area. The biggest problem that farmers faces is where to sell the produce. For that, the department has sent a proposal to open ayurveda centres in agriculture and horticulture markets. These centres will facilitate farmers to sell their produce. The farmers can also send their produce to pharma companies.

Farmers and horticulturists can strengthen their financial condition by establishing herbal gardens under the Union Government’s plan. The government will provide subsidy to farmers to establish herbal gardens.
