Challenges Before New Government

This is regarding Himachal This Week’s cover story of December 16, 2017, “Challenges Before New Government”. The new government in Himachal will have to face numerous challenges. The state’s financial situation is percarious due to increasing debt liability. In addition, there are other problems including increasing unemployment that need to be tackled. This hilly state will have to curb wasteful expenditure besides generating resources to strengthen economy. Himachalis hope that the new government will take steps for overall development and fulfill people’s aspirations.

Promote Handicraft

Our main focus is on machinery for development. All products used in daily life are manufactured and prepared through machines thus adding to the increasing problem of unemployment. It has also widened the gap between rich and poor. Over mechanisation has finished employment in rural areas due to declining production of hand made items. Handloom sector is prevalent in several districts of this hilly state. The government should promote handloom sector and small scale industries to solve problem of unemployment in rural areas.
