Chief Minister Jai ram Thakur is facing a tough test of resolving crisis created by politics of Congresss versus Bharatiya Janata Party fight right from the electoral days. An office of Sub Divisional Magistrate was to be located in Seraj area and Congress government decided to establish it in Janjehli which might be the preference of large Congress members. On the other hand the BJP would have reportedly found Thunag more suitable.
Aggrieved party went to High Court as it was a buffer area and more suitable location. High court turned down the decision of the Congress government to establish the SDM office in Janjehli as there was no rationale of locating it in a smaller place. In the meantime, transition of the government took place and the BJP decided to implement decision of the court. Politics centred on Seraj area as the Chief Minister Jai ram Thakur comes from that area. The Congress had taken a decision that was less palatable to the BJP due to more members favouring this site, political observers point out.
Strong agitation was unleashed by the residents of Janjehli who had earlier been favoured. Obviously the Congress is fanning this agitation to embarrass the BJP, political observers add. Today the entire area is on the boil and CM is facing a tough challenge sitting on the horns of dilemma since he comes from the same place with electorate favouring him. The Congress is not only inflaming the conflict but also enjoying the predicament of the party in power.
Whatever the politics might dictate, the fact is there is already a court judgement and state can’t be managed by bowing to a section of people against a decision. Rule of the law demands that Jai Ram acts tough and gives up appeasement politics, political observers opine. But the trouble is going on with leaders of both the parties running amuck.
So far CM was known for effecting transfers as he has unsettled perhaps the maximum of bureaucrats. Now his trial is on conflict resolution which is a very vital job of a leader. Political pundits are keeping their fingers crossed although they know that due to court order he has no choice.
