The hill state reported least crime ratio as far as contribution to national crime ratio in 2016 is concerned

The crime rate has no doubt increased marginally in Himachal Pradesh. But still, this hilly state is peaceful as compared to other states on parameter of national average crime ratio.

The national level crime figures released for year 2016 reveal that out of a total of about 4.29 lakh crime incidents registered all over the country, Himachal reported only 1593 cases under different sections and categories of crime. A comparative analysis of figures further disclose that the hill state witnessed 0.4% crime incidents in national level and on the basis of these figures released in 2016, Himachal can be categorised as most peaceful state in North India. On the basis of national crime ratio of other states of North zone, Jammu and Kashmir reported 1.3% crime cases, Punjab 1.6% and 3.4% crime cases were registered in Haryana. Delhi contributed 3.9% to national crime ratio. Uttar Pradesh stood at top position in crime list of 2016. Here 65,090 crime incidents were reported in 2016 which amounts to 15.2% of national crime ratio. West Bengal followed at the second position with 46,723 crime cases.  Maharashtra which

was at second position in this list in 2015 slipped to fourth position with 46,620 crime cases reported there in 2016. Bihar stood at third position with 46,621 crime cases reported there in 2016.  The figure of crime incidents in Jammu and Kashmir in 2016 was reported at 5756, Punjab registered 6909 crime cases, Haryana reported 14,392 crime cases while Delhi registered 16,648 crime cases in 2016.

Himachal At 23rd Position

Himachal Pradesh stood at 23rd position as far as contribution to national crime ratio in 2016 was concerned. The hill state stood at 20th position in the same list in 2015. Jammur Kashmir stood at 20th position, Punjab at 19th position and Haryana stood at 11th position in national crime ratio list.

States Contribution To Crime Ratio

The state who contributed to less than one percent in the national crime ratio in 2016 include Arunachal Pradesh, Himachal Pradesh, Goa, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Sikkim, Tripura and Uttarakhand. Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Bihar, Maharashtra, Madhya Pradesh, Assam, Karnataka, Odisha, Delhi and Rajasthan featured in the topten list of states that contributed maximum to national crime ratio.
