Citation: Hailing from Dharampur in Mandi district, producer director Ajay Saklani has brought laurels to the state by promoting Himachali language and  artists at global level. His feature film ‘Saanjh’ has won two awards at global level in America, including Best Feature Film award in Borrego Springs Film Festival in California. Produced in Himachali language, almost all actors, music director and singer are also Himachalis.

Hailing from Sihan village in Pehar panchayat of Dharampur in Mandi district, Ajay Saklani has brought laurels to the state as his Himachali film ‘Saanjh’ has won accolades in America. Born on September 30, 1983, he did his schooling from Hyunpehar school, Plus Two from Jammu, graduation from Khalsa College, Jalandhar and post graduation in Mass Communication from Delhi. He was attracted towards theatre during his college days and later learnt the nuances of film making from Director Surender Sagar in RGV 4:3 Productions in Delhi. Later he established Silent Hill Studio in Hamirpur and produced film ‘Saanjh’ under this banner. The film is not only in Himachali language but its main actors are also from this hilly state. It has bagged two awards in America including Best Feature Film award in Borrego Springs Film Festival in California. The film was chosen from 750 entries received from across the world. The film also won Award of Merit Accolade Global Film Awards in California. Ajay Saklani’s Himachali film is being talked at the world platform. Best part of the film is producer-director, hero and heroine of this Himachali film are all Himachalis. Aditi of Chamba has played the female lead whereas Mandi’s Vishal Parpagga is male lead in the film. Music director of the film is Gaurav Guleria and famous Bollywood singer Mohit Chauhan, also from Himachal has sung two songs in the film.
