HPCA Ready To Host India-Australia Test Match

htwThe picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium, Dharamshala, is ready to make its debut as a test venue by hosting the finale Test Match between India and Australia fromMarch 25. Ticket sale for the match has started recently. These would be available on cheap rates starting from Rs. 200 and will go upto Rs. 1500. India team will reach Dharamshala on March 21 while Australia will reach here on March 22. It would be the first time that Himachali cricket lovers would get a chance to see a test match in their hometown. Elaborate arrangements are being made for this upcoming match. As of now, two matches were played between the two teams in which Australia won the first match while second match was won by India, thus balancing the series with 1-1.

Students Exhibit Talent In Chakravyuh

htwChakravyuh, a two-days inter-branch annual sports and athletics meet was organised by Jawaharlal Nehru Government Engineering College, Sundernagar. During the event, students exhibited talent in basketball, football, volleyball, badminton, table tennis and kabaddi. Students of Mahatma Gandhi Government Engineering College, Jeori Kotla, also participated in Chakravyuh. In basketball (girls) and badminton (boys), the Textile branch bagged the first position. Mechanical branch clinched first spot in football (boys) and kabaddi (boys); Civil branch secured top spot in volleyball (boys), badminton (girls) and table tennis (boys). In basketball (boys) and table tennis (girls), ECE branch remained on the first position. In athletics events, Shanaz of Textile Engineering won the 100-metre race in girls’ category. In the boys 100-metre race, Akhil of Civil Engineering got the top spot, whereas, 400 metre race (girls) was won by Savita of Civil Engineering. And in boys’ category, it was won by Kishant of Mechanical Engineering branch. 800 metre race (girls) was won by Jyoti Thakur of Electronics & Communication Engineering and 800 metre race (boys) was won by Omender of Textile Engineering branch. The 100 metres relay race (girls) was won by Textile Engineering and 100 metre relay race (boys) was won by Electronics & Communication Engineering branch. 400 metres relay race (girls) was won by Electronics & Communication Engineering and 400 metres relay race (boys) was won by Mechanical Engineering branch.

18 Himachalis For World Winter Games

Himachal This Week, Shimla

Eighteen Himachali special players have left for the World Winter Games to be held in Austria from March 13, 2017. In the Himachali squad, there are 17 differently-abled players, while one is a unified partner. Players from different districts of the state have been selected for these games. The players include two from Kangra, one each from Kullu, Shimla and Una, six from Bilaspur, two from Mandi, two from Chamba and three from Solan. These players are going through training in Delhi in a national camp. In Indian squad, there would be 126 players who will represent the country.

Snow Boarding: Jyoti Bala from Kangra, Thakur Das from Kullu, Sanjay Kumar and Kanchan Devi from Chamba, Sanjay Kumar from Solan and Pooja and Jaswinder Kaur from Bilaspur

Alpine Skiing: Kunal Sood from Shimla, Megha and Mahesh from Solan, Deepak, Shivanjali, Najma and Usha from Bilaspur and Shubham from Mandi

Figure Skating: Shikha Rani from Una

Unified Partner: Indra from Mandi
