Hundreds of upcoming football players turned up for the first trials organised by Divya Himachal Media Group at Shahpur for its upcoming Himachal Football League. Trials that began from Shahpur will also be organised across the state this month. Himachal Football League will be held in May at Dharamshala. Experts of the sport judged the participating soccer players on different technical aspects of the game. Eight teams will participate in Himachal Football League

Kabaddi Star Ajay Thakur Appointed As DSP

Himachal’s kabaddi sensation Ajay Thakur, who brought laurels to the state many times has finally been rewarded by the government for his achievements. He has been appointed as a Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP) in the Police Department. The Cabinet gave its nod for Ajay Thakur’s appointment as DSP keeping in view his outstanding achievements in kabaddi.  Himachal This Week had also honoured Ajay Thakur for his achievements in kabaddi with Himachali of the Year Award in 2015. After performing exceptionally well in Kabaddi World Cup and Pro Kabaddi League in India, there was demand to appoint him as DSP. And now, he is getting this reward under sports quota. His brilliant performance in the Kabaddi World Cup in 2016 raised his stature as he helped India win the competition. Ajay had scored a total of 64 raid points in seven matches. He has always delivered when his team desperately wanted him to perform in a match. This small town boy is a source of inspiration for all as he played kabaddi when there was no sport in his village. Despite many challenges and financial constraints, he proved his mettle to excel in kabaddi.
