Suresh Rana Shines In Chandigarh Autoprix

Manali’s Suresh Rana once again proved his mettle in the Maruti Suzuki Autoprix 2017 Chandigarh Round of Season 1 which was held at Panchkula. Rana finished the race in the 4WD open category. The Autocross event allowed drivers to showcase their skills, driving at maximum attack in their respective classes, on a dirt track. Over 100 contestants from North India competed on the undulated dirt track created in different classes of both championship and non-championship categories. The winners in the Championship categories would go on to compete in second round, to be held at Gurgaon and then finale at Noida.

While driving his gypsy, Suresh Rana proved himself every way and won the title. He was followed by Amanpreet Ahluwalia and Jagmeet Gill in his category. In 2WD category, Aabhishek Mishra of Rajasthan clinched the top spot followed by Lakshay Veer Dabas and Chaitanya at second and third positions. Driving a Honda City, Harshvardhan Singh took home the ‘Fastest Amateur’ trophy with a cheque of Rs 30,000, whereas, the ‘Overall Fastest’ driver remained Philippos Matthai, who drove his Maruti Suzuki Swift. Driving a Maruti Suzuki Dzire, Bani Yadav bagged the ‘Fastest Lady Driver’ title and she won a trophy and a cash prize of Rs. 15, 000.

3 Himachali Hockey Eves In Junior National Camp

Three hockey players of Hockey Him have been selected for women’s national camp. They are Umra and Antim (defenders) and Manju Chorsiya (midfielder). Hockey India named 33 players for the Junior Women’s National camp at Sports Authority of India, Bengaluru. The players will report to Junior Women’s Coach Baljeet Singh and train together till December 16.

Among the national campers, Bichu Devi Kharibam, Salima Tete, Asmita Barla, Gagandeep Kaur, Ishika Choudhary, Mahima Choudhary, Suman Devi Thoudam, Sangita Kumari, Mumtaz Khan were part of the India ‘A’ Team that participated in the recently-held Australian Hockey League (AHL) in Perth. The list also includes forward Lalremsiami who is presently with the Women’s Team representing India at the Women’s Asia Cup in Kakamigahara, Japan.

Ranji Trophy 2017 Himachal Trails Against Bengal

Abhishek Kumar Raman’s 176 and Manoj Tiwary’s 123 runs propelled Bengal to 419 in the first innings during the ongoing match against Himachal. For Himachal, Rishi Dhawan took four wickets. Bengal’s opening was solid when the openers scored 176 to shape the hosts’ innings. Tiwary and Raman added 163 runs on the scorecard together until Raman was sent back by Paras Dogra leaving the team on 299 for four.

Wriddhiman Saha followed him back to the dressing room leaving the side on 306 for five. After that Manoj Tiwary and Shreevats Goswami had a good partnership of 64 runs. Then Manoj Tiwary got out and the Bengal team managed to made 419 runs all out in its first innings. Himachal’s beginning was not so good as its first wicket was taken on just

nine runs on the board. Himachal’s SL Verma batted well and made 64 runs. Apart from him PS Khanduri made 51 runs and no one could stay too long on the pitch. Thus, the team could only score 206 in its first innings. In its second innings Himachal is still trying to stay on the match.

Dilip Kumar For World Kickboxing Championship

Dilip Kumar Rana of Sundernagar is all set to prove his mettle in World Kickboxing Championship to be held in Hungary. He will represent India in Senior men’s 100 kg point fighting event. Rana is currently working in PWD department in Beri near Bilapsur. He said that he will try to perform better in this championship. Earlier, he had brilliantly performed in domestic kickboxing events after which he was selected to represent India.
