Himachal Is Home To 809 Beggars
The Union Government has released the figures of number of beggars in India. According to figures, there are about 4.13 lakh beggars, including 2.22 lakh male and 1.91 lakh female beggars, in India. Himachal Pradesh too has not remain untouched of this scary picture. They reveal presence of 809 beggars, including 504 men and 305 women, in hill state as well. Social Welfare Minister Thawarchand Gehlot released this data in his Lok Sabha. However, he did not disclose as to how many out of a total of 809 beggars in Himachal are locals.

The continuous denial by Punjab, Haryana and Rajasthan to Himachal Pradesh for its due share of Rs. 4400 crore in Bhakhra Beas Management Board (BBMB) has forced the hill state to take the matter to Supreme Court again. Earlier, the honourable Supreme Court had given ruling in favour of Himachal Pradesh.
